As a lifelong knicks fan I must admit I loved these old nets uniforms, both home and away. I have always been bitter about two things related to the nets: 1. They never had a chance to play in the NBA with Julius. 2. The nets offered the knicks Dr. J in lieu of paying a territorial fee to the knicks to enter the NBA and THE KNICKS TURNED THEM DOWN!

Excellent series , as always, peopled with great characters. The Fugs Derrick Coleman and the free hug guy sharing the same space as well they should.
And I thought I was the only guy who ever thought 'what to do, what to do--read Dostoevsky or tug a little.'

And here I thought the title would be an homage to Clarence Thomas:

http://www.whoopdeedamndo.com/?p=5

It seems "whoop-de-damn-doo" was the "yadda yadda" of the early '90s. I admire your attempt to bring it back, Josh, but once somebody is on record "whoop-de-damn-do"-ing Supreme Court confirmation I'm not sure there's anyplace left for that phrase to go.

(Loved the series -- I always look forward to them.)

i was a nets fan when i was a kid, not only because they were from new york (and new jersey), but because a few of them would always come to our last practice before we started our local basketball league each season. i recall meeting bill melchionni, brian taylor, billy paultz, and john roche. (i met lou carneseccha when he came to talk at our temple.) they were a groovy bunch of cats; our team even got to play a few minutes at halftime on the coliseum court during one game.

my brother and i put up two nets decals on our bedroom window, the kind you have to stick on from the outside and faces in. i often felt like that, on the outside facing in, during those basketball years.

josh, this is another great series.
