2. I wasn’t at the parade this year, but I noticed that the duckboat assignments seemed a little more carefully thought out (e.g., all the catchers on one boat, all the veteran starting pitchers on another boat, etc.). The most carefully put together duckboat roster seemed to be this one:

1. Ahhhh, the 2004 Victory Parade. I got up early that Saturday, bottle of Jameson in hand as Admiral Will picked me up as we drove to the T station in Riverside from Connecticut. I was already into the whiskey as we rode the Green Line and made some disparaging comments about Dan Shaughnessy. It turns out the teenagers behind us were classmates off his son and called the kid on the phone and tried to get me to talk to him. Admiral Will reminded me yesterday that while we were on the parade route waitng for the duckboats to a pass, an ambulance whizzed by; sirens blaring. He claims that I said, "Ladies and gentlemen, Johnny Pesky!" I guess that I was kind of a dick that day.
