We used to say that one time, Boog Powell and Don Baylor ran into each other running for a popup and the resulting shock wave knocked out the lights. It was the baseball precursor to the Alice Cooper/Frank Zappa grossout story. Or the antecursor. There was cursing, for sure.

my earliest memory of strat-o-matic was watching my older brother play using the 1971 orioles team, and the only thing i cared about (at age 6) was whether or not the guy named Boog rolled a hit.
when i started playing about 6 years later, i eschewed the current (1983) crop of teams and stuck with my '71 orioles for a number of obvious reasons (cuellar, dobson, palmer, mcnally, et al) but also because i liked having a guy named Boog on my team.

1. My daily trivialties are much the same Josh . . . I find comfort in the fact I do not meander alone. I too thought life would be so much easier, if I were religious. Blind faith seems to work for so many . . . unfortunately, my analytical mind can't get me there . . . (I just noticed that you can't have "analytical" without "anal" . . . the pious might call that symbolism.)

I had this card too, and felt a sense of mystical power to it. You could easily paint in a different backdrop, with a choir behind Boog, and place a bible in his glove, and Boog would look right at home.
