Josh, you weren't kidding about Jackson's uni in the Stargell thread. BTW, I enjoyed the All-Star post.

PS - I took A Fan's Notes out of the library. As with most books lately, I started it but didn't get too far. I'll have to hit the library up again a little later when I have more time.

A Fan's Notes! Love that book.

Exley talks a lot about football in that book, so as a complete nonsequitor, here are my Top 10 favorite baseball books, in no particular order:

-The Southpaw
-Hang Tough, Paul Mather
-Bill James' Historical Abstract
-Bang the Drum Slowly
-The Donald Honig Reader
-Five Seasons
-The Bronx Zoo (last read at age 12)
-The Great American Baseball Card --Flipping Trading and Bubble Gum Book (Chuck Berry to my endless go-nowhere acid-rock noodlings)
-The Universal Baseball Association, Inc., J. Henry Waugh, Prop.

Joshua...what is this "base ball" of which you speak?

Your blog spins tall tales of "Blue Jays" and "Pirates..."

I take it you mean the upstarts of Creighton U.... But we are a long way - figuratively - from Gaze and Ramos and the glory days of roundball at Seton Hall...

One entry makes much mention of "Aaron."
I presume you reference Mr. Afflalo, UCLA's All-American guard...

You reference the late '70s. The early '80s. But nary a word on Bobby Knight? Or Magic and Michigan State? Or Bird's valiant Sycamores?

Are we missing something?

The only "Jackson" hereby acknowledged are the fated dribblers of Jackson State. The only "Grant" on this radar is Coach Anthony Grant of brave Virginia Commonwealth. (May they slay Duke in their sleep!)

And what is this "World Series?" you embellish?

If I want to see Cardinals battle Tigers I shall tune into the Sweet 16 and watch Pitino and Louisville tackle Memphis and Calipari, thank you.

It must be March.
Is it not March, sir?

And are you not, by another hat, or headband, "The Basketball Kid?"
