Jim Beam - when I wanted bourbon and couldn't pony up for Jack, that was the stuff.

McKenna and the International. Years after my last shot of Jim Beam, I was at some pre-show warmup w/the regulars at the International, sipping soda water, discussing Sleater-Kinney, when McKenna rose up beside me, miasmatically from the bar floor, and said, "Yeah, I remember seeing you at the Sleater-Kinney Show at Central Park!"
As if it were last weekend. That show had actually been 8 years ago.

reading this had much the same effect. fire up the time machine, Jim. quite rockin'

ah...the endlessly rich lexicon of euphemisms for masturbation...

...other entries in this broad-by-definition category include "proofreading," "collecting miniature bottles," "watching 'Blossom'," "working on the computer" (presently #1), "doing some research," "reading some Tolkein," and of course
"playing Strat-o-Matic."...

just to complete the record, I had a second opus -- I didn't want to play "mary had a little lamb"; I want to play Bach's cello sonatas or, since even I could see that wasn't likely to happen, at least Lou Reed's "Street Hassle." So I'd sit there with Lou on the stereo and fake my way alongside, sawing along on every third note or so. Probably wearing ragu-stained t-shirt.
