Bill Lee is spiritually somewhat kin to Jim Bouton (as yet lacking a page here, Atlanta Braves 1978, get on it Josh!). So I'll just relate here that last night I dreamed that Jim Bouton was at the plate (dream license), and someone threw him a pitch. They pitched not a ball, but instead an entire engine - hoses, radiator fan, all that. Bouton swung, and drove the engine over the left-field wall of old Yankee Stadium. Fast-forward: a decades-later scene in which workers are hoisting a perfectly preserved Engine-That-Bouton-Struck from a large square vat of oil that sits just beyond that left-field fence. Then did my phone ring, preserving said dream in amber of sudden awakening. The end. God Bless Cardboardgods.net.

Possibly the easiest (and definitely the coolest) way to find out where he'll be playing is to catch him at one of his speaking events and ask him. He's always appearing somewhere.

One thing I did recently hear is how he always plays a game at either the beginning or end of spring training, I think in Dodgertown, maybe? Or maybe it's New Year's Day, somewhere in California. Okay, maybe that wasn't so helpful... Anyway, he plays this game and then goes off to do whatever, whether that's more baseball or just hanging out.

Keep checking Google News to see when he'll do an appearance.

Harvey:

I've had the very same question occur to me. My feeling is that he just roves around playing games here and there and everywhere. Hard to predect where he'll show up, especially since he probably doesn't know. (But maybe someone else reading this might have some info on the Spaceman...)

I know Bill Lee has been playing in leagues in Vermont (and other random locations world-wide). Any idea what team/league he's in these days? I'd love to catch a game this summer.
